Ok I have naturally straight hair and it is hard to curl or scrunch and it always falls flat is there any kind of anything to help my hair stay curly longer or curl better. Thanks
What would you use to curl straight hair?
do you have the japanese brand lucido? they have a hairspray specially for curling hair. you spray them onto your hair before using a curling tong... if not, you can skip this step or find an alternative product. curl your hair with a curling tong. do not hold it for more than 30 seconds as it may damage your hair. if you find that the curl has not set, curl it again for another 30 seconds. after curling, apply mousse or hair wax for permed hair evenly and scrunch your curls to make them last. there is also a none heated curlers(sponge balls) whereby you can roll up your hair(in 6 sections) at night after washing when it is 80% dry and got to sleep. by next morning you would get beautiful curls which you can just apply mousse and scrunch them up to make them last. DO NOT apply any kind of hair styling products onto your hair before you sleep. it'd only give you skin problems.
another option is only if you're really good at it. apply mousse evenly onto your hair and scrunch them. open your hand with fingers wide apart, grab onto a bunch of hair and rub your fingers together. i've seen hairstylist doing it on tv and she really managed to get pretty wavy hair out of a straight and limp hair just like that. then apply wax for curls to make them last. but for this option, the mousse you use have to be those specially to create curls for straight hair. i've tried using normal fixing mousse and it didnt work.
good luck!

Theres shampoos that help with that. Look at all of the shampoos in your grocery store. I can't remember the names of them, but they should work.
Plus a curling iron and LOTS of hairspray should do it.

Best shot would be to wash your hair at night and then put in curlers, you can get them in various sizes to make the perfect curl you want, then in the morning take them out and spray sone hairspray in. Good hairspray to invest in is sexy hair.
Good Luck!

i have very straight and soft hair and i tried almost everything (except a perm, i dont want one) and nothing has worked too good. the best i found was going to take a shower before bed and braid my hair when it was still wet and sleep with it in. then when i woke up, i took out the braids and it stayed wavy/curly for pretty long.

I have very straight, fine hair %26amp; I could never keep any curl to stay in..I recently started using some textureizer and it adds texture and a little weight to my hair %26amp; suprisingly enough it will now hold a half way decent curl...just dont use to much.

What would you use to curl straight hair?
wash your hair, then when its still wet, put foam curlers in it and sleep with them. when you wake up, take them out, and you should have curls :]
Also you can try a volumizing hairspray after you take the curlers out to make sure it stays.

I have straight hair, I like it curly and I get compliments all the time.
First, I have a perm, actually a body wave with the smallest rollers possible for a body wave. (They were about the diameter of my little finger.)
Make sure the perm is pH balanced. Otherwise your hair will be dried out and damaged, and it won't have bounce.
Wash your hair with a gentle shampoo, and use a conditioner on it. I also color my hair, so the conditioner I use is one to preserve the tone of the color and give shine.
I actually use a spongy kind of roller that has a wire through it and is covered with a kind of soft knitted fabric. It mimics the old fashioned "rag curler" popular in the 40's.
I use a lot of them because the less hair on the curler, the more curlers you have, the curlier your hair and the longer the curl lasts. Mine will last 3-4 days easily and even after than there is a nice wave and body. (My skin tends to be dry and I only wash my hair about once every 5 days or so--even then my hair isn't actually "dirty.") If you wash your hair, obviously you have to recurl it.
The way you use these rollers is, you roll your hair on them and then bend the wires over to hold the roller in place. The closer to your scalp you can bend the wires, the less the curler can move, the tighter your curl will be and the longer it will last.
You can sleep on them--I can't even feel them there except that it is like there is a tiny soft extra pillow under my head! Definitely very comfy.
The biggest advantage I see is that I don't put a lot of product on my hair, so I don't get the dullness, my hair has bounce and spring and feels good to the touch, and I don't get the flakes that come when you use lotion or gel.
If you have to use something other than just your wet hair, use stale beer (not a lot, just enough to moisten). You won't get the flakes or the dullness, and it will help provide body.
Last, don't take the curlers down until your hair is completely dry. Mine is fairly porous and thick, so it takes a long time to dry which is why I sleep on it rolled up. I test it every so once in a while, and roll the curler back up if it isn't done.
After the curlers are down, I might use a brush with widely spaced bristles but I am much more likely to use a wide toothed comb or even just my fingers to make my hair do what I want.
I think you'll like the method--I bought these curlers at an estate sale (no kidding) but have seen them since at beauty supply stores.

you can use curling tongs or straighteners to curl your hair. to ensure it lasts a long time, get a strong hold hairspray. spray with hairspray the section of hair lightly before tonging, then spray a lot after. your hair may be slightly solid, but its the only way to ensure the curls stay. and it looks really nice. but dont touch it too much or run your fingers through your hair, as this will undo your hard work in curling!!
its quite difficuly to curl your hair yourself, so get someone to help. different sized barrels in curling tongs or different sized plates in straighteners will achieve different sizes of curls.
